CUYABENO RESERVE 6 DAYS TOUR ITINERARY
1.- Quito - Lago Agrio - El Puente. Flight (10: am-20 mins.)Or bus ride (one day before-8 hour ride) to Lago Agrio. Drive from Lago Agrio to El Puente (bridge). 2 hours down stream of Cuyabeno River to Guacamayo Ecolodge, afternoon: Canoe ride around the lake to observe birds and other wildlife, like pink river dolphins, monkies, etc.
2.- Big Lake: Morning: Three hour hike in the primary forest to see its amazing diversity, especially birds, back to the lodge for lunch, later on we take the boat down Stream of Cuyabeno River (2 hours) to sleep in tents next to a saltlick.
3.- Early morning bird watching in the area,(parrots, etc). Breakfast and 3 more hours by boat, down stream of Cuyabeno and (Aguarico river, the 2nd largest one in Ecuador), lunch at Cofan indigenous community, later on a hike of 2 hours with a local guide to observe the strongest eagle in the world (Harpy eagle): 1 of the several eagles nesting in the area, dinner.
4.- Morning: Breakfast and we will start the way back to the ecolodge with several stops on the way for lunch and depending of what we see during the boat ride back to the lodge: Afternoon bird observation from a 25 meters high tower, dinner.
5.- Morning: Breakfast and three hours in a paddling ecocanoe to observe birds that are found next to the water and ground, lunch at the lodge, afternoon lake and a short night walk for possible night birds like owls.
6.- El Puente - Lago Agrio – Quito. Early morning enjoy it from the top of the tower, breakfast and journey back to the airport or bus station at Lago Agrio for flight or bus ride back to Quito.
